Enhancement Suggestions
Of course, since designing the code, we've thought of several ways to make paged commenting even better. If you have any suggestions, please email us with them and we'll add them to the list. Even better, if you use this code and add these enhancements (or others), let us know and we'll post your changes and/or code for others to enjoy. You will be credited for any work you contribute.
Ideas:
- Page Number Links: Rather than controls that navigate forward or backward a page at a time, they could consist of page number links. At a glance, visitors could see how many pages of comments there were. With a click, they could navigate to a page of their choosing. Additionally, an "all" link, could show all the comments (like b2evolution does by default) in one long, scrollable list. Here's a WordPress paged comment plugin example that utilizes such navigational controls.
- Older->Newer Listing for Newer-Older Pages: People might like the idea of listing the newest comments first, because the newest comments are accessible. But reading comment #150 before #149, before #148, etc., makes it difficult to follow any threads. A better way would be to have the newest comments on the first page, but ordered on the page from oldest to newest, continuing in this manner all the way to the last page, which contains the oldest comments.

If your blog gets a lot of comments, it means two things: (1) You have a very active readership! (Congratulations); (2) You and visitors are probably tired of scrolling down a very long list of comments, just to see the latest one.
Take control of your blog's comments by PAGING THEM. By putting them into pages, you can always have the latest comments on the first page and easily navigate through the pages, using page navigation.
The following pages discuss how to get paged comments installed and working on your site. Detailed instructions are provided, along with cut'n-paste code and CSS styling suggestions.
If you want paged comments, come by and swipe the code.
