This plugin is able to change the size of the textarea where I am now writing this post. To use the plugin install it first and go to your profile page in Dashboard -> Users -> CLICK YOUR USERNAME. There you will find a setting to change the number of rows. The new version adds a jQuery handle to the textarea so the user can drag to expand / resize the textarea when he is writing.
