Adding the Silver Lining
Suffice it to say that between all the XHTML hooks and the power of CSS, there are an infinte number of ways which you can style your cloud. The CSS file is called 'cloud.css' and is stored in the 'am_search_cloud_plugin' directory. However, we don't recommend you modify that CSS file. If you do, then when you update the plug-in, it will over-write all of your CSS changes. It's better, to add over-ridding CSS, to your skin's CSS file.
To avoid a long discussion about styling options, we've decided to present some styling examples used by real blogs. (Mind you, at the time of writing, there are few blogs that utilizing this 'unreleased' code. The list is a tad thin!) However, we're more than happy to show what we've done with it, to get your creative gears turning.
- Village-Idiot.org - (Not this plug-in, but the search cloud, on it's own page, uses an HTTP meta-refresh to present a new cloud, every 60 seconds).
- Innervisions.org.uk - (Top 40 search terms, on a black-background, shown between the 1st and 2nd post).
- Randsco.com - (Uses JavaScript to toggle the cloud on|off at the top of the blog (click the blue cloud icon in 'site tools'), css styling to put 40 randsom search terms into a "cloud" graphic for ie7, FFox & Opera).
- Danny's Blog Cabin - (Top 10 search terms at the bottom of the page).
- HungryFeelings.be - (Top 25 terms at the bottom of the page).
